Speaking Our Grief, Finding Our Joy

9730067911_5e9e592f95_zWe will soon be starting a 6-session grief support workshop for those who are coping with bereavement. The workshop will cover learning about grief, honoring and sharing about those we have lost, and supporting each other in our unique grief recoveries.

Move Up

move-up-4Move Up is a 32-session (about 1 year) behavioral weight loss intervention program conducted by the University of Pittsburgh Center for Aging and Population Health Prevention Research Center. It focuses on the “Keys to Healthy Aging”, healthy eating, physical activity, and behavior modification techniques. The purpose is to help participants improve their overall health, physical functioning, and fitness with additional focus on weight loss.

The Family Wellness Center is proud to host the Move Up program in Swissvale.

Must be between 60-75 to participate. Other eligibility requirements may apply. Call today to see if you are eligible. Program is free if you qualify. Contact Pitt Research Staff at 412-383-1303.


Health Fair


In September 2015, the Family Wellness Center presented a community health fair along with the Swissvale Library, National Networks Libraries of Medicine, Swissvale Presbyterian Church, and New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church.

The fair, themed “Encountering Wellness in the Community”, featured activities like line dancing, laughter yoga, zumba, health screenings, and other family activities.
