In 1998 Pastor Tedder and his wife, Michele, established Household Ministries, a teaching and outreach ministry to couples and families that included a counseling practice that integrated spirituality and behavioral science. The ministry expanded in January 1999 with the formation of a family worship center, Household of Faith, in McKeesport. Pastor Tedder served four years as the founding pastor.

Having earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Duquesne University in 1984 and a Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1990, Pastor Tedder is a clinical social worker with 25 years of experience in his field. He has worked with youth, adults, and families in various capacities and settings, including group homes, foster care, schools, and mental health agencies.

Having served on the ministerial staff of the Union Baptist Church of Swissvale as Minister of Counseling, Interim Pastor, and Senior Pastor. In addition,  he has served as both chairman and Executive Director of Reach Up, Inc.

The former State Director of Marriage Enrichment for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship of Pennsylvania, Pastor Tedder taught Family Dynamics at the University of Pittsburgh, co-authored a marriage and family column in Northern Connections and Soul Pitt Magazines, was a Site Coordinator for TWOgether Pittsburgh and marriage coach for The Marriage Works.

A community organizer with a burden for social justice, Pastor Tedder has received leadership training by the Gamaliel Network and is a member of the Spiritual Leaders Caucus of the Pennsylvania Interfaith Impact Network (PIIN) , as well as the Micah 6 Pastors’ Network and is engaged in addressing the concerns of Swissvale and the Greater Pittsburgh area. Currently, he is heading a Swissvale Youth Initiative with the goal of building a multi-purpose community center.

He was recognized by the Tri Boro Communities that Care Youth Prevention Network for his commitment to youth and their families , the Mon Valley Initiative for outstanding community service, and Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic for his work to include and address the needs of the mentally ill in the church community.


Michele Tedder, Family Wellness Center Director

newpic.michele-3Michele Tedder is a licensed minister, a professional life coach certified by the Life Purpose Institute in San Diego, CA and a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Science Degree in Nursing Education, from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She has an 18 year history at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic as a nurse clinician and mental health and wellness community educator.

Known throughout the Pittsburgh area as a marriage and family enrichment educator, she is certified as a facilitator by Prepare/Enrich, Life Innovations, Inc. and the Family Dynamics Institute. She is a former site coordinator for Twogether Pittsburgh, a federally funded marriage education initiative serving Western Pennsylvania.

Michele is the author of Don’t Let Grief Steal Your Joy, a spiritual self-help book, co-author of a marriage and family column in Northern Connections Magazine and is heard weekly on the Ask Michele segment of The Circuit With Valerie, Freedom Radio internet radio show originating from Atlanta, Georgia.

In addition to providing coaching services for AbilTo, a nationwide health and wellness company, she is the founder & CEO of Joy for Life, a life purpose, career and marriage and family coaching organization.
